Customer support reps, liaison officers get renewed understanding of DLA mission, priorities

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency customer support representatives and liaison officers who work on-site with military customers throughout the United States and overseas gathered at the McNamara Headquarters Complex Sept. 1-2 for the annual CSR and LNO Summit.

DLA Energy supports Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise

CAMP WALKER, South Korea — The Defense Logistics Agency Energy supported Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2015 before and during the cooperative South Korean exercise through training and fuel coordination.

Mr. James McClaugherty, DLA Land and Maritime deputy commander, visited the Pearl Harbor Naval shipyard and DLA-Pacific Aug. 10 on his first stop of an international trip through the Pacific region.

YOKOSUKA, Japan — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan’s, Surge Team has been awarded the Team of the Quarter award for third quarter, fiscal year 2015, for their outstanding strides managing the air, sea, and truck cargo deliveries throughout mainland Japan during a surge of inbound containers.

DLA Distribution Yokosuka prepares to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program

YOKOSUKA, Japan — As part of an effort to increase support to the warfighter, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, is preparing to manage Japan’s Transportation Protective Service program. This effort gives DLA responsibility for freight within mainland Japan that requires TPS, including classified, sensitive, and hazardous material.

Inside a massive 3D printer, a delicate head moves at lightning speed to precisely deposit heated plastic layer by layer to create a hardened part. DLA is researching whether 3D printing could help reduce costs and improve readiness.

3D printing could help DLA cut costs, improve parts support

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency is evaluating whether 3D printing, a process commercial manufacturers use to produce everything from prosthetics to airplane parts, could lower the cost and reduce lead times for hard-to-source, obsolete and back-ordered parts.

Army Reserve fuelers support DLA Energy during nationwide exercise

FORT BRAGG, North Carolina — Army Reserve Soldiers from 18 states participated in the Quartermaster Liquid Logistics Exercise June 7-20 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. About 1,100 Soldiers came from as far away as Michigan and Puerto Rico and as near as North Carolina to haul fuel for the Defense Logistics Agency.
