A poetic journey: finding an outlet, pursuing a passion, creating connections

PHILADELPHIA — William Wordsworth said that poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings, taking its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. Diane Guarnieri, a buyer for the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Medical supply chain and published poet, is living that truth as a buyer-by-day, poet-by-night, expressing her emotions – most recently about the COVID-19 pandemic – in the form of poetry.

DLA Troop Support’s Clothing and Textiles supply chain expedited shipping of approximately 5,000 disaster blankets and 90 general purpose tents, which hold up to 10 people each, were delivered to Camp Arifjan September 3, 2021.

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Clothing and Textiles supply chain expedited shipping of tents and blankets to Special Immigrant Visa recipients and civilians evacuating Afghanistan, a week before the Sept. 10 required delivery date.

Equipment from DLA Disposition Services helps Kempner Volunteer Fire Department expands fire service

KEMPNER, Texas — Under the Department of Defense Firefighter Program a five-ton truck from the military transferred to the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services as excess is now fighting Texas fires with the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department.

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Future Operations Division Chief Mary Martin has been preparing for retirement during the pandemic, but not how you might think. On August 27, Martin receives a certificate culminating a year-and-a-half program in the science of brewing beer, a passion and post-retirement plan she intends on spending more time on in the future.
