DLA director reviews operating plan, hosts town hall at Troop Support

PHILADELPHIA — “What we don’t measure, we don’t do,” Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams said, stressing the importance of measurable objectives laid out in Troop Support's 2018 Dynamic Operating Plan. Williams reviewed the plan and hosted a Town Hall in Philadelphia on April 27 to share his insights with Troop Support leaders and employees.

Connie Martins, a fabric worker with the flag room, and Anthony D'Ambrosio, Construction & Equipment deputy director, were recognized for their years of service during a civilian retirement ceremony. The two have 68 years of combined federal service.

Construction & Equipment deputy director, fabric worker retire

PHILADELPHIA — Connie Martins, a fabric worker with the Clothing and Textiles flag room, retired with 35 years of service. And Anthony D’Ambrosio, deputy director for the Construction and Equipment supply chain, retired with 33 years of service.

Children learn about the agency and ways to make themselves safer

Battle Creek, Michigan — Children of Defense Logistics Agency employees in Battle Creek gathered at the Hart-Dole –Inouye Federal Center April 26 to learn more about how their parents serve the nation’s warfighters and also learned about protecting themselves during Bring Your Child to Work Day.

Troop Support employees ‘walk a mile in their shoes’ for sexual assault awareness

PHILADELPHIA — A river of teal moved across the NSA Philadelphia compound to show the unified support of tenant organizations for sexual assault awareness and prevention April 24.

Luis Pena serves as the lone full-time civil servant for the Defense Logistics Agency in Puerto Rico. He helps military units shed their excess and used equipment and gets rid of their scrap metal. Here, he evaluates the pending scrap removal demands at Camp Santiago, which was one of the island's military installations hardest hit by Hurricane Maria in 2017.

SAN JUAN, PR. — Luis Pena serves as the Defense Logistics Agency's lone civil servant in Puerto Rico. And his job - helping warfighters get rid of used equipment and scrap - got a lot more challenging after the 2017 hurricane season.

Troop Support leaders, Pennsylvania Adjutant General of discuss warfighter focus

PHILADELPHIA — The 53rd Adjutant General of the Pennsylvania National Guard and his senior enlisted advisor visited the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support April 16. Air Force Maj. Gen. Anthony Carrelli and Army Command Sgt. Maj. Harry Buchanan III received an overview of Troop Support operations and shared thoughts on agency coordination for disaster response and veteran outreach.

Service members reflect on their DLA deployment

PHILADELPHIA — Deployments for military and civilian employees at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support are opportunities to develop a greater appreciation of the role the agency has in supporting overseas operations. Two Troop Support service members deployed as members of the DLA Support Team in Kuwait from May to November last year.

PHILADELPHIA — Air Force Col. Adrian Crowley, Industrial Hardware director, spoke to local business leaders at a National Defense Industry Association conference April 13 in Philadelphia.

Army officer reflects on family during promotion ceremony

PHILADELPHIA — Lt. Col. Latrina Lee said family has always been a central part of her life, and that it was the accidental death of her brother when she was 19 years old that drove her to join the Army.

Soldiers purge excess in Clean Sweep event

Fort Hood, Texas — Defense Logistics Agency employees help Fort Hood units purge excess items as they help Army personnel properly identify controlled property and ensure its proper disposition.

DLA Troop Support Clothing and Textiles’ culture improvement team conducted a War Games exercise to enhance communication throughout the supply chain, as a result of employees identifying streamlined communication as an area for improvement in previous culture climate survey results. The 2018 DLA culture climate survey is open until April 17. Employees are encouraged to provide insight on their experiences at DLA by completing the survey.

C&T aims to improve communication through ‘War Games’ exercise

PHILADELPHIA — DLA Troop Support Clothing and Textiles’ culture improvement team conducted a War Games exercise to enhance communication throughout the supply chain. The exercise was a result of employees identifying streamlined communication as an area for improvement in previous culture climate survey results. The 2018 DLA culture climate survey is open until April 17.
