Land and Maritime associate inducted into Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine inducted Army Col. John Dreska into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Nov. 7 during a ceremony at Radiant Life Church in Dublin, Ohio. In addition to his military service, Dreska works for the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime as the division chief for batteries, tires and engines.

Land and Maritime veteran runs Marine Corps Marathon in honor of fallen

Jon Ferguson trained for four months – covering roughly 400 miles – to prepare himself for a big moment in late October. The Marine Corps veteran and current Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associate completed the Marine Corps Marathon Oct. 27 in Washington, D.C. It was Ferguson’s first time running the race and second marathon ever.

Linda Johnson retires after 36 years

A longtime leader bid farewell to the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Oct. 24. Linda Johnson, deputy director of the Land Customer Operations directorate, retired after 36 years of federal service. In her final role, Johnson helped lead the team responsible for readiness support to nearly 19,000 U.S. Army and Marine Corps customers, with sales orders worth approximately $7.4 billion.

Resiliency fair hosts vendors Covering four pillars

On Sept. 25th, Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s People and Culture organization and the Wellness Council hosted the fourth annual Resiliency Resource Fair where associates found information and resources on each of the four pillars: Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Social.

Over a dozen county, state, and federal resources and nonprofit organizations attend Elder Care Resource Fair at Defense Supply Center Columbus Aug. 20 during the lunch hours sharing information with DSCC associates.

Faith services offered at DSCC

Chaplain Liaisons provide encouragement to employees in support of the spiritual pillar of the DLA Land and Maritime Resiliency Program under the People and Culture Directorate. Bible Class and Prayer Warriors groups formed at DSCC in the late 1990’s by a small group of employees and a volunteer Chaplain Liaison of the Christian faith.

Understanding PTSD focus of seminar

DLA Land and Maritime EAP Manager Drew Henderson hosted a seminar on Understanding PTSD for associates June 25 in the Buckeye Room at DSCC. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is a mental health condition that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, such as combat, a natural disaster, a car accident or sexual assault.

Leadership Development Council Leadership Summit was held Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The catered, lunch event featured dynamic speakers - each providing their leadership thoughts on one chosen letter of the word L-E-A-D-E-R.
