Soldiers first aid trainingMedical Readiness division

Medical's Readiness division ensures the availability of medical surge and sustainment materiel required by the military services to meet the demands of the national military support strategy.

The Medical supply chain's readiness plan is built to provide customer response and combat readiness. The objectives of the plan are to put in place contracts, business rules and agreements to rapidly acquire the full spectrum of medical supplies and equipment for military contingency operations.

Innovations during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom

The Medical Air Bridge provided the operational infrastructure enabling high priority medical materiel to be shipped through a single consolidation hub directly into theater. As a result, medical customers in CENTCOM and EUCOM enjoy improved in-transit visibility. In addition, limited transportation resources were used more efficiently, thereby improving the effectiveness of the medical logistics pipeline.

The Contingency Automation Application is an automated item identification, sourcing and transaction routing tool that enables the Readiness division to receive, validate, identify, analyze, source and monitor fulfillment of high-priority requisitions. The application acts as a bridge between the various medical ordering and transaction systems, and it substantially reduces the logistics response time required to deliver contingency medical materiel.
