Where to watch 2020 Veterans Day virtual tributes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Several local and national organizations will pivot from traditional Veterans Day festivities in light of the current health emergency and offer virtual opportunities to honor our nation’s veterans. Below is a snapshot of locally and nationally scheduled events.

COVATTA caps Navy birthday celebration at DLA Land and Maritime

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The U.S. Navy celebrated its 245th Birthday and the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime joined the festivities with a trimmed down version of its fun-themed cardboard regatta. A celebration staple for the last several years, the COVID-19 health emergency has required health and safety adaptations that have scaled down this year’s version.

Fall 2020 Ohio State University Economics Virtual Career Fair

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime attended the last virtual career fair of fiscal year 2020 at The Ohio State University Economics Virtual Career Fair. The event was hosted Sept. 30 using the Handshake virtual recruiting platform.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime participated virtually in Nova Southeastern University’s Government, Humanities and Education Fair Sept. 16. The university is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

University of Toledo Fall 2020 Virtual Engineering Career Expo

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Engineering and Technical Directorate participated in a Virtual Engineering Career Expo with the University of Toledo Sept. 29. This online event connected employers with engineering students, recent graduates, and alumni seeking both internships and full-time employment.

September orientation introduces 50 new associates

COLUMBUS, Ohio — September 23 was the first day of the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime New Employee Orientation for 50 new employees but this orientation was different than previous months. Participants were able to log in via WebRTC and use their webcams to see presenters and fellow employees instead of logging in to watch the PowerPoint presentations. This adjustment made the two-day orientation more interactive.

2020 California Baptist University Business and Accounting Fair

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime went to the West Coast, virtually that is, to recruit at the 2020 California Baptist University Business and Accounting Fair Sept. 23. Nine students from various business fields of study and DLA recruiters attended the event using a virtual platform.

Vision loss doesn’t stop DLA associate from achieving dreams

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The last five years have been kind to Gregory Ramsey. The contracting specialist met and married his wife, embarked on a new career at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and became a father. In an interview for National Disability Employment Awareness Month, he described this time in his life as a whirlwind and how he’s able to “see” better than ever despite being legally blind.

DSCC activities support Domestic Violence Awareness Month

COLUMBUS, Ohio — October has been National Domestic Violence Awareness Month since 1981. The observance serves to educate communities, individuals, couples and families about the Family Advocacy Program services and other community resources that can help prevent domestic violence, raise awareness of community responsibility, and inform the community of the many ways to report domestic abuse.
