DLA support to USSOUTHCOM dates to the early 1960s, continues today

It may come as a surprise to learn the Defense Logistics Agency has a long history of supporting the warfighter in U.S. Southern Command. It’s understandable. The agency doesn’t cover USSOUTHCOM with a regional command. Unlike Indo-Pacific or European commands, the area doesn’t host a peer competitor; unlike Central or Africa commands, it wasn’t a hot spot in the War on Terror. Nonetheless, military personnel have deployed to the theater throughout DLA’s 64 years. The agency has usually supported them.

DLA, FRCSE partnership clears 278 H-60 backorders

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A partnership between Defense Logistics Agency Weapons Support at Jacksonville and Fleet Readiness Center Southeast resolved 268 fleetwide backorders for H-60 helicopter bushings. The operational readiness of the H-60 helicopter fleet was recently threatened by a backlog of 268 fleetwide backorders for bushings, a type of low-friction mechanical bearing. When DLA's Weapon System Program Manager team in Richmond requested assistance, DLA Weapons Support at Jacksonville partnered with Fleet Readiness Center Southeast to produce the parts internally rather than rely on commercial suppliers.
