Chaplain talks life after combat during PTSD workshop

PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania Army National Guard chaplain spoke to Troop Support employees to help them better understand PTSD during a workshop Aug. 25. “I think everyone who has been to combat comes back different,” said Lt. Col. Douglas Etter.

The Women's Equality Day event guest speaker, Kathryn Ray, former president of The League of Women Voters of the District of Columbia and currently a reference librarian at American University in Washington, D.C., speaks to Defense Logistics Agency employees about women's struggles and triumphs to gain the right to vote during a Women’s Equality Day event held at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Aug. 24.

Employees celebrate women’s right to vote

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency employees gathered to celebrate women’s right to vote and commemorate their struggles and triumphs to gain what today is a fundamental right for Americans during a Women’s Equality Day event held at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Aug. 24.

Laskodi visits distribution centers, engages with customers

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On his first trip as commander of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, Army Brig. Gen. John Laskodi made stops to meet employees and tour locations in Jacksonville, Fla., Warner Robins, Ga., Albany, Ga., Cherry Point, N.C., Richmond, Va., Oklahoma City, Okla., and Hill, Utah.

DLA Land and Maritime presents annual plan to agency director

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Senior leaders at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime presented their Annual Operating Plan to the director of the agency Aug. 16 during a morning presentation at Defense Supply Center Columbus. Land and Maritime directors and supervisors presented DLA Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch with detailed information demonstrating their progress in achieving his five stated goals for mission success.

Red River’s Merrell celebrates 50 years of federal service

RED RIVER, Texas — Shirley Merrell, a supply system analyst with DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, recently celebrated her 50th year of federal service.

Todd Hoover, the Army’s Wellness Center Operations program manager, explains how metabolic testing equipment measures the amount of oxygen an individual uses to sustain normal functions at an Aberdeen Proving Ground center in Maryland. Hoover was invited to speak to DLA Troop Support employees as part of the organization’s efforts to develop workforce resiliency.

PHILADELPHIA — The leading cause of death in the U.S. is heart disease and the population's behavior is the cause. An Army Wellness manager spoke to DLA Troop Support employees about resilience and three areas that people can improve to be healthier.

FORT BRAGG, North Carolina — Army Col. Michael Talley, former commander of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pa., was promoted to the rank of brigadier general at a ceremony held at Marshall Hall, U.S. Army Forces Command in Fort Bragg, N.C., on Aug. 5.

DLA is working on its final rules for phase retirement.

Phased retirement rules for DLA employees still in development

DLA Human Resources officials are working to develop and publish the final rules for implementing the “phased retirement” option in the agency.
