DLA supplies active-duty troops assisting Hurricane Helene response

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — DLA is working with U.S. Northern Command to ensure active-duty troops are equipped to help federal, state and local officials clear routes and transport supplies to remote areas in North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.

U.S. Army Cpt. Charles Smith, a logistics officer assigned to the Macon-based Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 148th Brigade Support Battalion, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Georgia Army National Guard, coordinates response efforts with civilian agencies from Georgia and New Jersey, Oct. 1, 2024, at the Macon State Farmer’s Market in Macon, Georgia.

Logistics in Action: Article originally appeared on the Official National Guard website — The Georgia Army National Guard, in response to Hurricane Helene, have mobilized to provide response and recovery support to Georgia state residents affected. Hurricane Helene has caused significant damage across the southeastern United States since its initial landfall. Since, FEMA has taken the lead in coordinating much needed Federal assistance for residents in significantly damaged areas and these weekend-warriors have been hard at work alongside civilian agencies across the United States, ensuring supplies get to where they are needed.

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Joint Base Charleston website — Members of the 15th Airlift Squadron, 437th Airlift Wing, flew a C-17 Globemaster III to Fort Drum, N.Y., Sept. 28 to pick up aid supplies before flying to San Juan Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, a category 4 hurricane, battered the U.S. territory.
