DLA vehicle managers use technology to enhance safety, operational efficiency

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — The Defense Logistics Agency is modernizing its fleet management practices using technology monitoring vehicle use and employee driving behaviors to make informed decisions about safety, costs and operational efficiency.

As part of a government-wide effort to increase efficiencies and effectiveness of the national supply chain, the Defense Logistics Agency and General Services Administration have several joint initiatives underway to address longstanding acquisition and logistic issues, including the first comprehensive Federal Supply Class review in almost 50 years.

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency and General Services Administration work together to manage 600-plus federal classes of supply, which include over 6 million National Stock Numbered items.

“Historic” is the word for this year’s Wildland fires. Now supplies are coming back to be refurbished and made ready to battle the next incident. Rocky Mountain Interagency Support Cache Materiel Handler, Damion Diaz, is pulling DLA supplied host that’s been tested, washed, and dried and ready to fight fires.
