DFSP Yorktown ceases fuel operations

The final large barge lift of jet fuel marks the end of an era for the historic Defense Fuel Support Point Yorktown, Virginia, June 6. The transfer of 150,000 barrels of jet fuel to the Military Sealift Command fuel barge, Petrochem Producer, and the drawdown of fuel to tank bottom levels marks the start of the final accountability process for the 117 year-old, government-owned, contractor-operated fuel terminal.

379th fuel technicians: “We bring fuel to the fight”

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Air Forces Central Command website — The faint smell of gasoline lingers in the air as fumes seep out of the 2,800 gallon bladders filled with JP8 jet fuel. The bladders are on their way to an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia to provide support as a result of a fuel shortage. This delivery is the first of its kind in more than a year and a half.
