DLA and U.S. Forest Service support rural fire departments

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Defense Department provides collaborative support to firefighters nationwide through a partnership between Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services, the U.S. Forest Service, and state forestry agencies who all work together to help firefighters gain access to excess military equipment.

Wildfire fleet upgrades with surplus

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Trucks used to fight wildfires by the Woodson Volunteer Fire Department in Texas averaged more than 40 years old. When it was time for an upgrade, the department looked to DOD’s Firefighter Property Program and Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services.
