Over the past year, Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s newest directorate has been working diligently to develop new solutions to enhance warfighter support. The Specialized Management Operations Directorate, officially stood up in April of 2024, provides a dual focus on intensively managing critical weapon system parts for the 21N Nuclear Reactor Program and developing innovative acquisition solutions to improve purchase request productivity.

DLA’s Automated One Time Buy Team earns agencywide accolades

Defense Logistics Agency’s Enterprise Automated One Time Buy Procurement Team made significant strides in supporting the defense industrial base and meeting warfighter requirements, issuing over 400,000 solicitations and resulting in approximately 151,311 awards valued at $1.086 billion from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024. The team – comprised of 30 personnel from DLA Aviation, Land and Maritime and Troop Support – was recently recognized with the Acquisition Workforce Team Achievement during the 57th Annual Employee Recognition Program held Jan. 23 at DLA headquarters on Fort Belvoir.

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Warner Robins hosted a two-day operational tour for a team from DLA Land and Maritime to strengthen their partnership and highlight the impact of their combined efforts on aircraft maintenance and supply chain management. The visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding of each other's priorities and constraints, ultimately supporting the warfighter through more efficient and aligned efforts.

DLA enterprise improvement project supports process redesign

Subject matter experts from across the Defense Logistics Agency enterprise gathered for a Rejected Disposal Workshop at DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 29 – Aug. 1. The workshop is part of a DLA improvement project that focuses on activities for two of the project phases. Moving forward, the team will begin identifying related tasks for each of their recommendations developed during the workshop and obtain the approval of the project champion.
