Political activity: Federal law, DOD rules dictate employee do’s and don’ts

As local, state and federal elections approach, employees must be aware of the law restricting political expression in the federal workplace, during duty hours, or on federal property at any time. All civilian employees of DLA are required to abide by the Hatch Act of 1939.

With the election season now in full swing, it’s important that DLA employees be aware of rules that apply to them under the provisions of the Hatch Act, 5 U.S.C. Section 7323, which limits political activities of all federal employees.
