DLA delivers produce to Egyptian port, expands support in Red Sea

“The delivery is more than a truck of fresh fruit and vegetables,” said Army Lt. Col. Sherdrick Rankin, DLA Troop Support Europe & Africa commander. “This effort brings a new capability to the Navy in the (U.S. Central Command) area of operations and expands support in the strategic waters of the Red Sea.”

School children, warfighters help each other through DLA food-acquisition partnership

A partnership between the USDA and DOD is enabling the warfighter and school districts to spend money more efficiently while providing nutritious foods. The USDA DOD Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, which is managed by DLA Troop Support, leverages whole-of-government buying power.

DoD Fresh program highlighted in new video

Subsistence acquisition professionals in DLA Troop Support manage the DoD Fresh Program, and in coordination with the USDA’s National School Lunch Program, they provide fresh produce to 12,000 schools in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
