On the eve of Veterans Day, members of the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime workforce paused to commemorate the U.S. Marine Corps’ 246th Birthday in a hybrid event at the Operations Center Nov. 10.

Ethics training is often thought of as a dry and boring requirement, but the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Legal Office livened it up a bit with an interactive hybrid event on Oct. 7 featuring a panel of Land and Maritime leaders from across the enterprise recounting ethical challenges they have faced in their careers.

DLA Director visits Land and Maritime to assess operational posture

Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams visited DLA Land and Maritime Sept. 5 through Sept. 6 to get an in-person update on the business operations and how they’ve been integrated into DLA’s Strategic Plan. He also presided over the Sept. 6 retirement ceremony of Navy Rear Adm. Deborah Haven, Director of the DLA Joint Reserve Force, before leaving Columbus, Ohio.

Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams and select members of his senior staff visited Defense Supply Center Columbus Dec. 11 to review DLA Land and Maritime’s present and future logistics operation plans. The visit was hosted by DLA Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer and his senior leadership team.

Family service, loss themes of 2018 Marine Corps birthday celebration at DSCC

The Marine Corps celebrated 243 years of service to the nation during a birthday celebration at the Defense Supply Center Columbus Nov. 7. “The U.S. Marine Corps has a long, proud history of service defending America’s liberties and ideals dating back to the foundation of our country,” said Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Deputy Commander Steve Alsup opening the program. “Through multiple conflicts, the valor and courage of the Corps has been battle-tested and proven.”

Engineers rally over Sailors to win Navy’s annual regatta

The Bullship went belly up and a fast-moving shark named Hat Trick prevailed at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s 4th annual Navy Cardboard Regatta held Oct. 11 at DSCC. The race is held annually on the U.S. Navy’s birthday and showcases a range of watercraft created by Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, veterans and civilians using nothing more than duct tape and cardboard. The race is open to all tenants and this year’s cardboard fleet featured a dozen teams from DLA Land and Maritime, the Navy Recruiting District Ohio and the DFAS– Columbus.

DLA Land and Maritime Commander visits Troop Support

DLA Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer signs his name on a presidential flag Oct 4 during a visit to DLA Troop Support. As part of his orientation tour, Palmer stopped by the flag room to learn how employees make military unit flags. The presidential and vice presidential flags are made at Troop Support. As part of tradition, when distinguished visitors stop by the flag room to learn the history, they are extended an opportunity to sign their name.
