The American Chopper of Aircraft Maintenance

AL DHAFRA AIR BASE, United Arab Emirates — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing website — The 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron fabrication flight, also known as “Fab Flight” or the “American Chopper” of aircraft maintenance at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, is in charge of identifying and repairing aircraft structural damage. They fix whatever can be broken, from a metal panel off the side of a KC-10 Extender to a tiny cracked screw the size of a fingernail.

Fabricators fab Fighting Falcons

Forging the future, maintainers receive new equipment

ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Ellsworth Air Force Base website — Aging aircraft are used frequently, putting them under constant wear and tear. The bombers consistently need new parts to continue their mission, parts that haven’t been manufactured in decades. This is where the 28th Maintenance Squadron Fabrication Flight comes into play.
