DLA Troop Support embroiderers celebrate 250 years of American flag making at Betsy Ross House

PHILADELPHIA — Maintaining the tradition of America’s first flag maker, two embroiders from the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Flag Room demonstrated hand embroidery of the presidential flag at the Betsy Ross House Flag Makers’ Hall June 12 to celebrate “Flag Fest.”

DLA Troop Support flag room staff celebrates Flag Day at Betsy Ross House

PHILADELPHIA — To celebrate Flag Day, June 14, The DLA Troop Support Flag Room team demonstrated the making of the presidential flag to visitors at the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia. The Flag Room is the sole producer of the presidential and vice presidential flags, and its staff are considered the “Betsy Ross of the 21st century,” for their patriotic flag making.

‘Flag ladies’ continue Betsy Ross legacy as museum-worthy Philadelphia flag-makers

PHILADELPHIA — Embroiderers at DLA Troop Support continue the flag-making legacy of Betsy Ross and the many needle workers who preceded them. The "flag ladies" are featured in the Betsy Ross House’s newest exhibit “Historic Threads: 250 Years of Flag Making in Philadelphia.”
