DoD program helps DLA share knowledge, talent with industry

Rosslyn, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency continues to invest in innovative programs that allow acquisition professionals to engage with and learn from industry partners. Brian McGinley, a supervisor in DLA Troop Support’s Post Award Division for industrial hardware, is assigned to a six-month career-development program with Deloitte LLP in Rosslyn, Virginia.

Bagram staff shares mission info with senior logistics leader

Bagram, Afghanistan — Defense Logistics Agency employees serving in Bagram, Afghanistan, had the chance to enhance warfighter trust and get their New Year off to a good start with a visit from a senior logistician on the U.S. Central Command staff.

DLA Disposition Services materials examiner and identifier Jeremy Liehr was named Defense Logistics Agency Employee of the Quarter in October for serving as agency equipment manager in Afghanistan.

Associates bring hope to Mission Park

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Mission Park welcomed Hope Garden as its newest memorial during a dedication event Oct. 2 kicking off Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Hope Garden is a living memorial to those who have lost their lives to abuse and a symbol of the resilience of survivors.

U.S. service members board a C-130H at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. The 386th moved an average of nearly 8,000 passengers a month throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

New DLA command creates joint ops center to boost warfighter support

A new joint operations team is now active at the newly created Defense Logistics Agency CENTCOM & SOCOM headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Several Police Presence in a Box kits were transferred to Iraqi security forces July 3. The kits are the first of 100 that DLA Troop Support procured for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve and will be transferred to ISF this summer. The kits include: a tent with a working space, furniture, lighting, water tanks, laptops, phones, GPS, weapons storage and checkpoint equipment.

DLA-procured police-presence kits delivered to Iraqi security forces

PHILADELPHIA — On the verge of victory in Mosul, Iraqi security forces received police equipment that they’ll use to protect their citizens. The first Police Presence in a Box kits were transferred to Iraqi security forces July 3 during a ceremony in Baghdad.

Army Col. Rick Ellis, commander of the DLA support team in Afghanistan was awarded the combat action badge Nov. 26, after saving a soldier's life following a terrorist bombing.

Defense Logistics Agency personnel recently helped save numerous civilian lives by delivering millions of critical non-food items to refugees and migrants in the Middle East before the arrival of winter, in collaboration with other federal agencies.

Bagram — Twelve trucks loaded with supplies left Bagram Airfield and headed toward Afghan businesses after a "white goods" sale at the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services Yard Aug. 7. Sale items included a Bobcat, forklifts and refrigerator containers.
