DLA flag makers create first Space Force flag

PHILADELPHIA — Defense leaders presented the Space Force flag to President Donald J. Trump May 15 at the White House in Washington, D.C. The flag was created at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support flag room in Philadelphia.

DLA Troop Support rushes blankets to customers in Europe

PHILADEPHIA — Quick action and strong ties with a vendor by Defense Logistics Agency employees helped speed delivery of 200 wool blankets to U.S. Army Europe Mortuary Affairs in Stuttgart, Germany, in response to COVID-19 in late April.

DLA orders protective equipment for US nursing homes

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency ordered about $134 million in personal protective equipment for U.S. nursing homes amid COVID-19. The White House Coronavirus Task Force requested the items, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to equip medical staffs at approximately 14,900 Medicaid- and Medicare-certified locations with 14 days of protective gear. Nursing homes will receive the gear in two shipments, each with seven days’ worth of PPE.

Fort Belvoir, Va. — DLA acquisition employees are continuing professional development during the COVID-19 pandemic with virtual instruction by Defense Acquisition University. More than 200 employees – over 50 from DLA Energy – have completed DAU training since the university converted some of its face-to-face courses to online instruction March 23.

DLA helps schools provide fresh produce to students, families during COVID-19

Philadelphia — Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employees are working with school districts, produce vendors and officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program to provide fresh produce for breakfasts and lunches that are normally served to students in school cafeterias.

A U.S. State Department need to fuel four newly contracted aircraft delivering supplies to fight the coronavirus was met in 2.5 hours by the Defense Logistics Agency April 10.
