Continuous Process Improvement award winners show dedication, making DLA better for all

Richmond, Va. — Where there’s a will, there’s a way — and this year’s recipients of the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Continuous Process Improvement Award are shining examples of this enduring adage. Most of the honorees were recognized Oct. 23 at the Frank Lotts Conference Center, Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Among the 20 award recipients, there were three team awards and two individual performance awards. Awards were presented to CPI project teams; Kitting Functionality and Business Process Improvement, Commerciality Determination Honeywell International, and Oklahoma City – Backorder Resolution Process Improvement Project.

Richmond, Va. — As we enter the fall season, Daylight Saving Time will end at 2 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 4. According to a National Fire Protection Association fact sheet for smoke alarms in U. S. home fires, fires in which the smoke alarms were present but did not operate: • almost half (46 percent) of the smoke alarms had missing or disconnected batteries, • nuisance alarms were the leading reason for disconnected smoke alarms, • dead batteries caused one-quarter (24 percent) of the smoke alarm failures, and • only seven percent of the failures were due to hardwired power source problems, including disconnected smoke alarms.

Army Col. inducted into Hall of Fame

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — Surrounded by colleagues, family and friends, retired Army Col. Robert Jarvis was inducted into the third annual Defense Logistics Agency Energy Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Oct. 23 for his legacy, which defined the history of DLA Energy and set the standard for today’s warfighter energy solutions.
