Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Force Civil Engineer Center website — The Defense Logistics Agency awarded a utilities privatization contract to Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative, or CHELCO, to own, operate and maintain the electrical system infrastructure at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida for 50 years.

DLA Energy contracted 25 fuel trucks in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Incident Support Base at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia, to support anticipated Hurricane Matthew relief operations.The trucks brought more than 123,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel to MCLB Albany Oct. 6.

DLA Energy provides fuel support to Hurricane Matthew relief

Defense Logistics Agency Energy is providing essential fuel support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency in response to ongoing Hurricane Matthew relief operations in the United States and Haiti.

CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Florida — Defense Logistics Agency Aerospace Energy supported NASA’s first U.S. mission to sample an asteroid with a launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, Sep. 8.

Operations personnel use new partnership to protect supply chains, prevent counterfeits

Fort Belovoir, Virginia — For more than a decade, an increase in counterfeit and suspected counterfeit spare parts has challenged Defense Logistics Agency’s quality-control and technical personnel. But DLA’s recent partnership with the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center has improved DLA’s detection methods and increased the range of parts DLA can test for authenticity.

VIENTIANE, Laos — A Defense Logistics Agency Energy Pacific at Guam quality assurance representative’s initiative and expertise recently enabled timely support of presidential aircraft Air Force One in the nation of Laos.

Krissie Davis, a civilian DLA employee, volunteered for service in Afghanistan and was killed at age 54 by an enemy rocket in June 2015.
