DLA Distribution participates in Child Development Center parade

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — With the spookiest time of the year upon us, the tenants of Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna lined the streets surrounding the Child Development Center and the installation fire station to hand out candy to approximately 120 ghouls, goblins, superheroes and princesses on Oct. 30.

Members of Naval Supply Systems Command’s Corporate Management Development Program visited DLA Distribution on Oct. 23 to see first-hand how items flow through the distribution network to the warfighter.

NAVSUP CMDP students visit DLA Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Members of Naval Supply Systems Command’s Corporate Management Development Program visited DLA Distribution on Oct. 23 to see first-hand how items flow through the distribution network to the warfighter.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 20 people are physically victimized by an intimate partner in the United States every minute—more than 10 million women and men each year.

Eisenhower students learn DLA Distribution future plans strategy, tour DoD’s largest warehouse

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Students from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy in Washington, D.C., visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oct. 23 to discuss how DLA is evolving to continue delivering logistics solutions to the Combatant Commands.

DLA Distribution Headquarters has put in place an agreement for DLA Distribution San Diego, Calif., to assume the specialized support required by the U.S. Navy submarines.

DLA Distribution San Diego commences material processing center operations in support of Commander, Submarine Squadron 11 at Point Loma

SAN DIEGO, California — For over ten years, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet has relied upon the Naval Supply Systems Command Inter-service Supply Support Operations Program contract to provide material processing services at Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, Ca., in support of home-ported submarines and a floating dry-dock.

Yokosuka distribution center hosts annual Forklift Rodeo and Safety Rally

YOKOSUKA, Japan — On Oct. 9, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan hosted their 10th annual Forklift Rodeo and Safety Rally, a five-event competition designed to test safe and efficient forklift operating skills.

New Cumberland community supported during Federal Day of Service

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On Oct. 16, more than 230 federal workers throughout Pennsylvania’s Capital Region volunteered their time at local nonprofits as part of the third annual Federal Day of Service. Defense Logistics Agency Distribution’s commander, Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix, along with local military and family members volunteered their time at the West Shore Senior Center, distributing food and other necessities to those less fortunate.

October is Crime Prevention Month and security officials in Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support are encouraging employees to help the agency combat crime in the workplace.

DLA Distribution Albany assists in humanitarian relief to Hurricane Joaquin ravaged South Carolina

ALBANY, Georgia — South Carolina is gradually moving into recovery mode following widespread flooding from an early October storm that dumped as much as 26 inches of rain across the state's midland and coastal areas.

Shipmates at DLA Distribution Norfolk, Va., including LS1 Daniel Cordero, Lt. Matthew Kelley, QM1 Andrew McKnight, Capt. Harry Thetford (DLA Distribution Norfolk’s commander), LS2 Dana Plummer, Lt. Cmdr. Chris Mayfield, and Lt. Emmanuel Nneji, cut a cake honoring the 240th birthday of the Navy. In tradition, the cake was cut with the oldest and youngest members of the command.

Norfolk distribution center celebrates Navy’s 240th birthday

NORFOLK, Virginia — On Oct. 13, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., celebrated the Navy’s 240th birthday. Norfolk is DLA Distribution’s largest operation supporting Navy customers.

The Air Force’s system that provides cradle-to-grave tracking, management and reporting capabilities for hazardous materials and waste is now under the management of Defense Logistics Agency Information Operations and DLA Logistics Operations.

DLA takes responsibility for Air Force’s Hazardous Material Management System

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — The Air Force’s system for tracking and managing hazardous materials and waste is now under the management of Defense Logistics Agency Information Operations and DLA Logistics Operations.

Defense Logistics Agency Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch hands the agency’s signed assertion letters to Simone Reba, deputy director of DLA Finance Sept. 30. The letters, which state that the agency’s financial statements are ready for its first full audit, will now be sent to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) for review and approval.

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency is nearing the finish line toward its first full audit, two years ahead of the congressionally mandated 2017 target, with the signing of three audit readiness assertion letters. The signed letters will now be sent to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) for review and approval.
