Susquehanna Vietnam Veteran reflects on his time in the Marine Corps

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Rodney Brown, a material examiner and identifier at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Remembering all of our Veterans this week, DLA Distribution is honoring Brown’s service in Vietnam.

NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard B. Dix, attended the third annual National Defense Transportation Association – U.S. Transportation Command fall meeting at the Gaylord National Harbor Hotel in National Harbor, Md., just outside of Washington, DC, from September 28 through 30.

Tobyhanna’s Farnsworth and Verton win Global Distribution Excellence: Quarterly Contract Quality Assurance Program Commendable Service award

TOBYHANNA, Pennsylvania — Brian Farnsworth and Michael Verton, quality assurance evaluators at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pa., have received the Global Distribution Excellence: Quarterly Contract Quality Assurance Program Commendable Service award for their outstanding leadership and knowledge, which resulted in a 100 percent performance for three consecutive months.

MWR hosts HQC Halloween 5K Run/Walk for fun, fitness

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — More than 100 employees participated in the HQC Halloween 5K Run/Walk at the McNamara Headquarters Complex Nov. 5. The Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program office sponsored the zombie-themed event, which had been postponed from Oct. 28 due to inclement weather.

DLA Director updates Distribution workforce on strategic goals

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — During the DLA Director’s inaugural visit to DLA Distribution in May, he was in the process of developing the Agency’s seven-year strategic plan. On Oct. 27, he returned to the field activity’s headquarters in New Cumberland, Pa., to update the workforce on the main tenants of the now complete plan.

Marines celebrate 240th birthday, 70th anniversary of Iwo Jima

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — Marines past and present gathered at the McNamara Headquarters Complex Nov. 3 to observe the 240th birthday of the Marine Corps and the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, a turning point in World War II in which the Marines played the pivotal role.

DLA Distribution participates in Child Development Center parade

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — With the spookiest time of the year upon us, the tenants of Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna lined the streets surrounding the Child Development Center and the installation fire station to hand out candy to approximately 120 ghouls, goblins, superheroes and princesses on Oct. 30.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Members of Naval Supply Systems Command’s Corporate Management Development Program visited DLA Distribution on Oct. 23 to see first-hand how items flow through the distribution network to the warfighter.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 20 people are physically victimized by an intimate partner in the United States every minute—more than 10 million women and men each year.

DLA Distribution Headquarters has put in place an agreement for DLA Distribution San Diego, Calif., to assume the specialized support required by the U.S. Navy submarines.

SAN DIEGO, California — For over ten years, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet has relied upon the Naval Supply Systems Command Inter-service Supply Support Operations Program contract to provide material processing services at Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, Ca., in support of home-ported submarines and a floating dry-dock.
