Procurement assistance centers help small-business owners, government buyers

The Procurement Technical Assistance Program, created in 1985 to increase the number of small businesses capable of participating in government contracts, is administered by the Defense Logistics Agency’s Office of Small Business Programs, with centers in Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam and all 50 states.

DLA’s Eugene Shearer received Canada’s Meritorious Service Medal on Dec. 15 for his contributions as chief of the Combined Joint Logistics Branch of Regional Command South, Afghanistan, in 2010 and 2011, while serving as a colonel in the U.S. Army.
