COLUMBUS, Ohio — Summer is here and you know what that means: vacation. As we enter the busiest vacation period of the year known as the 101 critical days of summer (Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend), DLA Land and Maritime would like to help make your getaway the best ever, whether you are staying local, heading to the beach or traveling abroad. Land and Maritime engineer honored for fiber optics work

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Department of Defense is engaged in a continual effort to improve operational efficiencies of the weapons systems used by the nation’s military services. Many of the systems have incorporated fiber optics in place of older cable wiring technology to improve performance and reduce overall weight.

Local high school students learn about the types of military equipment DLA purchases to support warfighters around the world during a visit to Defense Supply Center Columbus for "A day in the life of a mentor" event on Apr. 20.

Local high school students visit DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Students from Whitehall-Yearling High School visited Defense Supply Center Columbus on Apr. 20 to learn about the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime during “A day in the life of a mentor” event.

Acquisition executive temporarily joins Land and Maritime team

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime has expanded its leadership team with the addition of Roxanne Banks, deputy director of Acquisition (J7) for DLA at Ft. Belvoir, VA.

DLA Land and Maritime’s Small Business Office received the Verdure Award during the DoD's annual Vanguard Awards ceremony April 6 in Atlanta, GA for significant contributions to buying method efficiency and innovation. Land and Maritime, Distribution leadership gather to discuss future efficiencies

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On Apr. 5, DLA Land and Maritime senior leadership met with DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. John Laskodi and key staff members to discuss the duo’s partnership and ways to create efficiencies benefitting the DLA enterprise.

Defense Supply Center Columbus hosted an information fair to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. DLA Land and Maritime sexual assault response coordinator Shari Murnahan helped organize the April 5 event to promote activities taking place during the month at DSCC.

2017 SAAPM activities highlighted at DSCC information fair

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) officially kicked off with an information fair at Defense Supply Center Columbus.

Wynueco Washington, a DLA Land and Maritime associate, surprised Lewis with a special performance of “Georgia on my Mind,” a tribute to Lewis’ hometown, during a March 31 retirement ceremony.

Land and Maritime’s Lewis retires after more than 38 years of federal service.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Milton Lewis, DLA Land and Maritime’s Acquisition Executive for the past nine years, retired Mar. 31 after completing more than 38 years of dedicated and decorated service to the Department of Defense.

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month (SAAPM), the DLA SAPR program invites all DLA employees, worldwide, to participate in a virtual “Going the Distance for SAPR” challenge. Our goal is to get the word out across the DLA enterprise about the SAPR program and resources, but most important, participation will show support for survivors.

The Columbus Region Defense Group met at Defense Supply Center Columbus Mar. 3 to discuss economic development initiatives, improvements to public-private partnerships and workforce challenges and opportunities. The group included representatives from local and state political offices, civic leaders and military stakeholders.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime hosted the Level I Mentoring Program graduation ceremony and reception Mar. 1 at Defense Supply Center Columbus. “The Level I Mentoring Program provides the opportunity for employees to find their niche in the organization, build strategic relationships and gain a broader perspective of DLA’s mission and future,” said guest speaker and program graduate JoAnn Phillips.

DSCC Child Development Center reopens as in-sourced DoD entity

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After more than 10 months of preparation, the Child Development Center (CDC) on Defense Supply Center Columbus reopened Feb. 27 as a fully in-sourced Department of Defense operation.
