Arlington, VIRGINIA — One Defense Logistics Agency employee and four teams were awarded Department of Defense Value Engineering Achievement Awards for fiscal 2015 at a Pentagon ceremony, June 28.

Current and former service members from all military branches along with federal civilians and contractors gathered at Defense Supply Center Columbus June 16 to celebrate the Army’s 241st birthday.

Defense Supply Center Columbus personnel stack donations of canned foods during the annual Feds Feed Families campaign. Each year, donations from federal employees support the Mid-Ohio Food Bank's Operation Feed food drive, bringing essential items to central Ohio families in need.

2016 Feds Feed Families campaign underway at DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Supply Center Columbus has once again partnered with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank to help fight hunger in the region. The 2016 Feds Feed Families food drive officially kicked of June 1, and personnel on the installation will have several options to participate in the program throughout the summer.

Land and Maritime shares Memorial Day message with installation neighbor

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Under the glare of intense sunshine DLA Land and Maritime Navy Capt. Brian Ginnane spoke to Bexley, Ohio residents on Memorial Day as part of their Memorial Day celebration. Ginnane highlighted Ohioans who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives as part of that sacred service.

DLA Columbus Police Division Watch Commander Edward Compton Jr. stands behind a display of tactical police tools and equipment May 18. Also on display is a collection of contraband which police officers prevented from entering the installation. The displays are a part of week-long activities to celebrate Police Week.

DSCC shows appreciation for officers during Police Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio — From the sentinels at the entry gates to the patrol cars that keep watch over the streets, police officers at Defense Supply Center Columbus are a ubiquitous sight across the installation. While most associates see them every day, many may not realize the amount of work that goes into keeping the facility safe 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

DLA Installation Support Columbus Police Officer Kevin Schaefer recently participated in a military-themed episode of Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge at the Broken Skull Ranch. During the challenge elite athletes compete in head to head battles for a chance to win a $10,000 prize.

DSCC MWR is offering five events to DSCC Associates, Military and families focused on Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength (B.A.N.D.S.) -- all key components of overall well-being and resiliency.

Aspiring para trooper is fitted with the parachute assembly used by service members during flight jumps. Several parents and their kids took the opportunity to harness up as part of their orientation about different jobs parents perform on the installation.

DSCC buzzing with activities as kids celebrate Take Your Child to Work Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Under overcast skies the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Take Your Child to Work Day kicked off in the building 20 auditorium for the more than 150 children ages 9-17 and their parents. Activities included safety presentations to raise awareness, physical activities like dodgeball, basketball, jump rope, and a visit to Land and Maritime’s Electronics Testing Lab.

Denim Day brings awareness to sexual assault

COLUMBUS, Ohio — April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Denim Day was an event which encouraged people to wear jeans (denim) to help raise awareness and promote prevention of rape and sexual assaults. Land and Maritime leadership approved Wed., April 27th as a command sponsored opportunity to show support for Denim Day.

Urgency drives DLA Puget Sound team in maintaining ballistic-missile submarines

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The design of the Ohio-class submarine allows the vessel to operate 15 or more years between major overhauls. On average, the submarines spend 77 days at sea followed by only 35 days in-port for maintenance, creating urgency for on-shore personnel who must ensure the vessel is ready when called back to action.
