Spring into action: MWR and Environmental team up to offer volunteer opportunities for associates
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associates looking to take a more active, hands-on role in improving the environment are now able to make an impact on the installation. DLA Installation Operations at Columbus Welfare and Recreation Division and Environmental Division volunteer opportunities include the Butterfly Club, Bluebird Box Team and the CDC Garden Team.

Information fair kicked off April’s Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month at DSCC
COLUMBUS, Ohio — DLA Land and Maritime’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office hosted an information fair during lunch in the Operation Center Café April 3. The fair provided information and resources available at DSCC and in the surrounding community for survivors of sexual assault and their advocates.

Seeds of hope planted at DSCC
COLUMBUS, Ohio — As part of raising awareness for Child Abuse Prevention, Defense Supply Center Columbus associates gathered at Hope Garden in Mission Park to place pinwheels and spread seeds around the garden April 1. April is the designated Child Abuse Prevention Month and blue is the color associated with the cause.

Small Business team recognized at commander’s town hall
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Office of Small Business Programs was recognized March 18 during a town hall at the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Operations Center Auditorium. The office received DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams’ Strategic Goals Award for their efforts in helping the Agency to exceed its small business goals for Fiscal Year 2018.

Skills to last a lifetime, theme of mentoring graduation ceremony
OHIO, Columbus — ceremony that culminated nine months of dedication and work in the Level II Mentoring Program March 13 at the Defense Supply Center Columbus Operations Center Auditorium. Level II is a voluntary, formal mentoring program for associates at the general salary grades 9 through 12.
Puget Sound assists small businesses in discovering opportunities to work with DLA
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility plays an important part in the Defense Logistics Agency Maritime family by serving as the primary advocate for PSNS and IMF supply support in Washington. As part of their outreach efforts, DLA Maritime - Puget Sound was one of 119 vendor booths at the Alliance Northwest Small Business Conference in Puyallup, Washington, March 7.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — DSCC was certified as a Tree City USA Feb. 19. The Tree City USA program is a program sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service and state forestry that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their urban forest.

Campaign raises $1.1 million for charity
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Federal employees at the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime hit a significant milestone this month. With the conclusion of the latest Combined Federal Campaign season Feb. 22, campaign coordinators reported employee donations totaling $1.1 million over the last six years.

Army officer honored during retirement ceremony
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Family and friends gathered to honor Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Joseph Scarpill during a Jan. 18 retirement ceremony at DSCC. Scarpill served 27 years in the military, finishing his final three years as the deputy division chief for the Land Readiness Division, Customer Operations Directorate, at the DLA Land and Maritime.
