DLA Land and Maritime Timeline of the Past 60 Years

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime based at the Defense Supply Center Columbus has a long history of support to our nation’s forces. The installation was dedicated in 1918 to expedite shipments of supplies to troops serving with the Allied Expeditionary Force in France during World War I.

DLA Indo-Pacific employees, Rapid Deployment Team Blue improve readiness on the Korean Peninsula

The DLA Indo-Pacific team integrated with DLA’s RDT Blue Team during the biannual Combined Command Post Exercise 21-2, which took place on the Korean Peninsula Aug. 16-26. The exercise provided an opportunity for DLA to train, evaluate, and test systems while demonstrating DLA’s capabilities and strategic global reach.

DLA Land and Maritime employees honored for efforts resulting in conviction in long-running fraud case

The Department of Defense Office of Inspector General’s Defense Criminal Investigative Service honored two Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime employees recently for their efforts in tracking a decades-long scheme by New Orleans businessman Robert Klein to defraud DOD of millions of dollars. The effort to hold Klein accountable was a partnership between DLA Land and Maritime, DCIS, the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, who prosecuted the case.

Land and Maritime gains consumable hardware mission

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime completed a DLA supply chain efficiency initiative by realigning its consumable hardware mission to better support DLA’s customers. The focus of the mission shift requires DLA Aviation and DLA Land and Maritime’s assumption and management of more than 900,000 national stock numbered items divided between the two Major Subordinate Commands.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Since 1981, October has been National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The observance serves to educate communities, individuals, couples and families about the Family Advocacy Program services and other community resources that can help prevent domestic violence, raise awareness of community responsibility, and inform the community of the many ways to report domestic abuse.

Longtime DSCC engineer, installation deputy retires

Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management – Columbus Deputy Site Director Eddy Poprock retired Oct. 1 after 39 years at the Defense Supply Center Columbus. The Lorain, Ohio, native began his federal career shortly after graduating Ohio State University when he took a developmental civil engineering job at DSCC – then known as the Defense Construction Supply Center.

Army Brig. Gen. Timothy P. White, director of U.S. Forces Korea J4 and Army Brig. Gen. Steven L. Allen, commander of 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Korea for a tour of the new warehouse Sept. 8.
