From the 19th century to now, Troop Support embroiderers continue Betsy Ross’ flag making legacy

PHILADELPHIA — As Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s history dates back to 1800 with the construction of the Schuylkill Arsenal in Philadelphia, so does its partnership with American flag maker Betsy Ross.

Medical helps strengthen U.S. partnerships through readiness

PHILADELPHIA — Two Defense Logistics Agency employees attended a U.S. Army’s Office of the Program Manager - Saudi Arabian National Guard summit last month to inform the host nation’s military about Medical’s services, demonstrate products and evaluate protocols as a way to help strengthen the medical readiness on the battlefield.

DLA Troop Support commander hosts final town hall

PHILADELPHIA — Army Brig. Gen. Mark Simerly hosted his final town hall as commander of the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support June 11 in Philadelphia.

Property Disposal Specialist Parry Miller guides the construction of a mobile command and control shelter at Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo. Miller will serve as the disposal site lead for two weeks as a DLA Disposition Services team torches, shreds and removes broken down equipment the U.S. Army has accumulated during its peacekeeping mission there.

Mobile disposal site deploys for first time

CAMP BONDSTEEL, KOSOVO — An agency property disposal team has set up temporary shop at Kosovo’s Camp Bondsteel to help the 20-year-old base rid itself of defunct and decrepit equipment.

New DLA hiring policy targets qualified applicants, expedites hiring process

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support teamed up with their servicing human resources office to bring one of the agency’s first job openings under the fiscal 2016 National Defense Authorization Act-authorized Expedited Hiring Authority to a Hiring Our Heroes event May 30 at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Overseas Contingency Operations Readiness Training, or OCORT, prepares military and civilian agency personnel for constructing and manning portable disposal sites that can be shipped and used nearly anywhere in the world.
