New commander emphasizes trust, discipline, commitment in first town hall

PHILADELPHIA — Army Col. Mark Simerly discussed the importance of trust, discipline and commitment during his first town hall as commander of DLA Troop Support.

Several Police Presence in a Box kits were transferred to Iraqi security forces July 3. The kits are the first of 100 that DLA Troop Support procured for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve and will be transferred to ISF this summer. The kits include: a tent with a working space, furniture, lighting, water tanks, laptops, phones, GPS, weapons storage and checkpoint equipment.

DLA-procured police-presence kits delivered to Iraqi security forces

PHILADELPHIA — On the verge of victory in Mosul, Iraqi security forces received police equipment that they’ll use to protect their citizens. The first Police Presence in a Box kits were transferred to Iraqi security forces July 3 during a ceremony in Baghdad.

Saplay Seke, a business process analyst in DLA Troop Support’s audit readiness office, facilitated a process-improvement event to address an issue related to how DLA employees communicate the status of transactions in their business software. Minor adjustment to order-tracking process yields major cost avoidance

PHILADELPHIA — Saplay Seke, a business process analyst in DLA Troop Support’s Process Compliance directorate, facilitated a series of discussions using continuous process improvement techniques to address an issue related to how DLA employees communicate the status of transactions in their business software.

‘Warfighter’s logistician’ takes charge of DLA Troop Support

PHILADELPHIA — Army Col. Mark Simerly assumed command of DLA Troop Support during a ceremony July 11 in Philadelphia. Outgoing Commander Army Brig. Gen. Charles Hamilton encouraged the Troop Support workforce to keep being innovative.

Soldiers from the Marne Reception Center put in their lunch orders at the Outpost food truck and wait to be served. The food truck is a convenient way for soldiers to get chow on the go.

Troop Support helps Army food service go mobile

DLA Troop Support is partnering with the Army to help bring its food service into the 21st century with a pilot food truck program. The first food trucks began testing operations in February at Fort Lee, Virginia, and two more began at Fort Stewart, Georgia, in March.

The local Feds Feed Families food drive opened June 20, and Defense Logistics Agency employees in Philadelphia have already donated 962 pounds of food. Several employees and their families volunteered to decorate the collection boxes.

Industrial Hardware director retires from Air Force

PHILADELPHIA — The director of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Industrial Hardware supply chain retired from the Air Force in a ceremony here June 22. Col. Glenn Chadwick served more than 27 years and will retire to Dallas.

DLA Troop Support hosted a groundbreaking ceremony June 26 to mark the start of construction on a new headquarters building on NSA Philadelphia. Groundbreaking marks start of Troop Support HQs construction

PHILADELPHIA — The new construction reflects the evolution of the DLA Troop Support, from depot operations to procuring more than $14 billion worth of materiel for the military and other customers in 2016, said Army Brig. Gen. Charles Hamilton, commander.

Maria Dubatto, a contract specialist with DLA Troop Support’s Construction and Equipment supply chain, developed a software solution to automate the process of completing the required documentation to ship hazardous materials. The new process is more efficient and prevents delays in customer delivery

Troop Support employee saves time with automated HAZMAT label process

PHILADELPHIA — Maria Dubatto developed an automated process to cut the time it took to complete forms required to transport hazardous materials by 89 percent. She earned her Green Belt certification with the Lean Six Sigma project.

IH employee singled out from 27,000 as strategic contributor

PHILADELPHIA — A DLA Troop Support employee earned a Director's Strategic Goal Award for designing databases to better track, categorize and manage workflow in the Industrial Hardware supply chain.

Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jemme Neal and Sgt. 1st Class Isaac Wilson, both from DLA Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain, cut a cake June 13 to mark the Army’s 242nd birthday. Subsistence helped deliver 300,000 servings of birthday cake to dining facilities around the world.

PHILADELPHIA — A group of attorneys who serve as career counselors for Philadelphia area law schools visited DLA Troop Support June 5. DLA Troop Support attorneys provided an overview of the organization’s global warfighter support mission, legal areas of practice and attorney benefits to representatives from Villanova, Drexel, Temple, Widener and Rutgers universities.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District cut their procurement process time by 50 percent when they used the Construction and Equipment supply chain’s Maintenance, Repair and Operations program.

PHILADELPHIA — The commander of DLA Troop Support recognized 67 employees during a quarterly awards ceremony June 6.
