Richard Armstrong and Tyrone Paige were selected as Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Employees of the Month for August. Armstrong won in the general schedule (GS) 10-13 category. Paige took the award in the GS 1-9 category.

WWII veteran’s grave rediscovered thanks to DLA Land and Maritime associate’s efforts

A Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime employee is generating a lot of buzz around the world this week. Army veteran and DLA Land and Maritime Customer Account Specialist Nathan Reynolds is being lauded across the globe for his instrumental efforts to rediscover the gravesite of World War II veteran Arthur Lewis and ensure the delivery of a proper gravestone marking his service.

DSCC federal community participates in annual Columbus Veterans Day Parade

The Columbus Veterans Day Parade returned Nov. 5 after a pandemic pause and Defense Supply Center Columbus volunteers are getting in on the action ahead of the big day. Over the years, volunteers from DSCC’s largest tenants at the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service – Columbus have helped organize and put on the Columbus Veterans Day Parade, said John Dreska, division chief for DLA Land and Maritime’s Batteries, Tires, Engines and Armament section.

DLA Aviation career broadener trading blue stripes for gold bars

They say the third time is a charm. Well, in the case of Air Force Master Sgt. Christopher Farris, three times that was a charm. Farris was recently selected for conversion from enlisted to officer. It was his ninth try. He currently serves as a material management enlisted career broadener within Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Supplier Operations Directorate’s Post Award Division.

Navy once again comes out on top at the second annual Navy Birthday COVATTA

Out of a field of 10 hand built and meticulously decorated boats, Don E’s Revenge, owned by Navy Cmdr. Eric McCandless, blew out the competition and emerged victorious, an improvement on his second place finish last year. Some of his competitors came close but he was sure it was certain modifications that thwarted all others in the field that day in the second annual COVATTA, a abridged version of the annual regatta staged at the Eagle Eye Golf Course pond pre-COVID. The COVATTA was part of the 246th Navy Birthday celebration at Defense Supply Center Columbus.

DLA Land and Maritime Commander visits command detachments

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. Kristen Fabry moved strategically to reestablish in-person ties with Land and Maritime detachments at the DLA Maritime Norfolk and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard through on-site visits as travel restrictions eased across the Department of Defense. Fabry completed the two-day swing at the end of September before returning to Columbus, Ohio.

In Afghanistan and Iraq, U.S. soldiers lost lives to roadside bombs. In 2007, the Secretary of Defense made a commitment to Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. Former Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Acquisition Executive Milton K. Lewis talks about how he and his team took on the challenge and worked tirelessly to make sure repair parts were available so MRAPs could be maintained and warfighters would be saved.
