New DLA team to integrate risk management, internal controls enterprise-wide
Defense reform and audit advancement are among focus areas outlined in the new “Leading Change” document emphasizing the Defense Logistics Agency’s fiscal 2020 goals.
Oct. 15, 2019 - The Defense Logistics Agency is embracing mandates of the Office of Management and Budget Circular A-123 with a new DLA Headquarters team that will integrate enterprise risk management and internal controls efforts across the agency.

Search and rescue success
Police Officer William Younger of the Seminole, Oklahoma Police Department stands in frount of the Humvee that he and Chief David Hansen used to find a missing man suffering from Alzheimer’s. The Humvee came from DLA Disposition Services’ Law Enforcement Support Office.
Oct. 13, 2019 - A prepared police department and a former military Humvee from DLA Disposition Services saved the day for an elderly Oklahoma man.

DLA Disposition Services contracting officer receives commission
In early 2019, Jacob Curtis, a contracting officer who began his career with DLA Disposition Services last October, started his pursuit of the Navy Reserve Direct Commission Officer program for a chance to commission as a Supply Corps Officer. Curtis was officially sworn in and commissioned into the Navy Reserves September 10. On Oct. 9, DLA Disposition Services celebrated his commissioning ceremony with family, friends, and his coworkers at DLA Disposition Services Headquarters in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Illinois firefighters get mobile welding station
A self-contained mobile welding station will be used by some of the 1,200 fire stations in Illinois that have a partnership with the state Department of Natural Resources to get access to used and excess military equipment through the Defense Logistics Agency.
Oct. 10, 2019 - Portable USMC excess property can be borrowed for use by 1,200 participating fire stations statewide.

Reps support USMC mission in Norway
A U.S. Marine with 2nd Transport Support Battalion guides an LAV-25 Light Armored Vehicle out of a cave during an exercise in central Norway. DLA Disposition Services personnel recently visited underground storage sites there to assist with the removal and reuse of obsolete equipment.
Oct. 1, 2019 - DLA helps divest aging equipment in Scandinavian caves filled with supplies prepositioned for NATO defense.
