Project Code Information
Logistics Data Gateway
A Project Code is a Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedures (MILSTRIP) data element that allows the Department of Defense to accumulate cost and performance data for requisition-related transactions related to special programs, exercises, projects, and operations.
Project codes are categorized into four categories and the authority to assign project codes varies by category. The authoritative source for each category of project codes is either maintained with the Services or the Project Code Management System (PCMS).
MILSTRIP Appendix 2.13 Project Codes includes the four categories and associated procedures.
The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) and the DOD MILSTRIP Administrator can assign and manage Category C project codes. OSD and the CJCS can assign and manage Category D project Codes. Category C and D Project Codes are available at the following links:
LDG is a data warehouse managed by the Defense Activity Addressing System (DAAS). LDG allows authorized users to access project code reports.
Project Code Management System (PCMS)
PCMS is a web-based application that allows authorized personnel from OSD and CJCS to create and manage Category C and D Project Codes.
All our sensitive files (e.g., Point of Contact lists, attendee lists, some briefings) are now stored at Intelink. Access to Intelink is CAC/PIV certificate enabled (which includes ECA). Many corporations and foreign nationals who contract with the DoD and the Federal Government have established PKI certificates (known as ECAs).
