221216-N-IX644-1042 ADRIATIC SEA (Dec. 16, 2022) Thanh Nguyen, assigned to Fleet Readiness Center Southwest, drills composite on an F/-18E Super Hornet aircraft attached to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136, aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77), Dec. 16, 2022. Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 is the offensive air and strike component of Carrier Strike Group 10, George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWBCSG). The squadrons of CVW-7 are VFA-86, VFA-103, VFA-136, VFA-143, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 140, Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 5, and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 46. The GHWBCSG is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests. CVW-7, FRCSW Complete First of its Kind Aircraft Repairs at Sea

Same day service restores helicopters to mission capable status

Tobyhanna Army Depot, PA — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Tobyhanna Army Depot website — A rapid response team from Tobyhanna Army Depot increased Soldier readiness by conducting critical repair work on rotary wing aircraft assigned to an Army unit at Fort Drum, New York.

Timothy Schwenning, 437th Maintenance Squadron, Fabrication Flight Non Destructive Inspection NCO in charge, checks the disbonds and delamination on the Nose Radome on a C-17 Nov.1, 2019, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. During the bond test, the inner and outer radome is inspected to ensure the adhesive bonds two or more material components together.

437th Maintenance Squadron, Fabrication Flight

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Joint Base Charleston website — Joint Base Charleston C-17 Globemaster IIIs perform several missions throughout the world to include combat and presidential support, training and humanitarian missions. As time goes on, aircraft need to be inspected and repaired for structural integrity, internal cracks, painting and exterior damage. The 437th Maintenance Squadron, Fabrication Flight is responsible for fixing and identifying such issues to ensure mission readiness.

"Working on a jet still leaves me speechless," he said. "Just to even think that I went from something so small [automobiles] to working on something so big."

Mass. Air Guard maintainer views sheet metal work as art

ARLINGTON, Va. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the National Guard website — Airman 1st Class Jose Lozada Jr. believes aircraft structural maintenance is more than just repairing physical damage.

MX, CES Airmen perform first of its kind repair in AOR
