Women's Equality Day Celebrated in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Defense Supply Center Columbus hosted its 2016 Women’s Equality Day program at the building 11 auditorium August 17 featuring a five-member panel who addressed women’s workforce and social issues – to include challenges and successes.

DLA, defense industry collaborate on maximizing warfighter readiness

COLUMBUS, Ohio — DLA keeps its promise to support warfighters around the world because of America’s defense industrial base, DLA Logistics Operations Director Navy Rear Adm. Vincent Griffith said Aug. 30 during the DLA Land and Maritime Supplier Conference and Expo in Columbus, Ohio.

The DLA Aviation Customer Operations Directorate's weapons systems program managers, at Richmond, Virginia, strive to keep the H-53 type model series helicopter fleet maintained and up to 100 percent mission ready. The U.S. Navy's MH-53 Sea Dragon is shown performing mine countermeasures using the MK-105 tow sled during operations while demonstrating the U.S. Navy's ability to defend against mine-laying operations and ensure open access to sea lanes.

Aviation’s WSPM team keeps Navy’s MH-53 flying

RICHMOND, Virginia — The U. S. Navy’s MH-53E Sea Dragon became operational in 1986 and is the only heavy-lift helicopter in Naval Aviation. Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Navy Customer Facing Division in the Customer Operations Directorate in Richmond, Virginia, is part of the team helping keep the MH-53 helicopter mission ready.

Actress Alex Ford, who portrayed Civil Rights heroine Rosa Parks during a Women’s Equality Day event Aug. 24 at Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, signs a presidential flag while visiting the Flag Room. Ford detailed Parks’ life of activism and experiences that shaped her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, including her difficulties gaining the right to vote.

PHILADELPHIA — An actress portraying Civil Rights heroine Rosa Parks described voting as an integral part of being an American citizen during a Women’s Equality Day event Aug. 24 at Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support.

Air Mobility students learn Distribution, tour DoD’s largest warehouse

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On Aug. 24, students in the Advanced Study of Air Mobility Program from United States Air Force Expeditionary Center, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., stopped by DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pa., to learn how the organization operates 25 distribution centers globally, before touring the Department of Defense’s largest warehouse at DLA Distribution Susquehanna.

The three-minute video offers a glimpse of just one way DLA supports the warfighter every day.
