Fueling hurricane recovery efforts

Heavy rains, flooding and severe damages haven’t stopped DLA Energy from providing fuel to hurricane response and recovery efforts after two major hurricanes, Florence and Michael, struck the nation over the past two months. In support of the FEMA, Task Force Americas has moved from staging area to staging area prepositioning personnel and fuel for quick deployment to hurricane ravaged areas.

Fire Prevention Week: Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire can happen anywhere.

Fire Prevention Week was Oct. 7 - 13. It was first established in 1922. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge issued the first proclamation for fire prevention week, making it a national observance. DLA Columbus Fire and Emergency Services recognizes the importance of fire prevention and fire safety education. FES holds several specialized events each year during fire prevention week.

Engineers rally over Sailors to win Navy’s annual regatta

The Bullship went belly up and a fast-moving shark named Hat Trick prevailed at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s 4th annual Navy Cardboard Regatta held Oct. 11 at DSCC. The race is held annually on the U.S. Navy’s birthday and showcases a range of watercraft created by Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, veterans and civilians using nothing more than duct tape and cardboard. The race is open to all tenants and this year’s cardboard fleet featured a dozen teams from DLA Land and Maritime, the Navy Recruiting District Ohio and the DFAS– Columbus.
