Living his dream

Two weeks after his high school graduation in June 1965, George Tyras joined the United States Air Force and became an aircraft fueling operator in U-Tapao, Thailand, servicing KC-135 and B-52 aircraft from Vietnam. Operation Rolling Thunder was underway and gas was 31 cents a gallon. Fifty-four years later, Tyras is ending his career with more than 54 years of total federal service.

Training the next generation of warfighter supporters goes virtual during pandemic

When Defense Logistics Agency Pathways to Career Excellence Class 39 kicked off March 16, 20-year Army veteran Daryl Johnson was among the 30 members embarking on the two-year journey. The DLA Pathways to Career Excellence Program trains entry-level employees for advancement in supply, technical quality, procurement and finance fields through on-the-job work assignments, cross-training, rotational assignments and formal instruction. Johnson and his classmates were still in-processing into DLA when the agency launched a maximum telework policy March 23 due to COVID-19.

DLA Energy’s Hall retires after 35 years of federal service

Darcy L. Hall began her career serving three years in the U.S. Marine Corp before starting federal service as a staffing assistant clerk with DLA Human Resources, Cameron Station in Alexandria, Virginia. After a few moves, as a military spouse, she transferred to the DLA headquarters working for Human Resources, J1, before transitioning to Energy.
