Air National Guardsmen Participate in Mobilization Training

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air National Guard website — As part of a pre-deployment exercise Aug. 12-18 The 102nd Logistics Readiness Squadron and 212th Engineering and Installation Squadron packaged and prepared equipment for military airlift recently. This exercise tested the Airmen’s capability to get materials and troops out the door if they are called to deploy or respond to an emergency at a moment’s notice.

DLA enterprise improvement project supports process redesign

Subject matter experts from across the Defense Logistics Agency enterprise gathered for a Rejected Disposal Workshop at DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 29 – Aug. 1. The workshop is part of a DLA improvement project that focuses on activities for two of the project phases. Moving forward, the team will begin identifying related tasks for each of their recommendations developed during the workshop and obtain the approval of the project champion.

Army director of Enterprise Support visits DLA Distribution

Robert Thurston, director, Enterprise Support, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Headquarters, Department of the Army, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and toured the facilities at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, Aug. 14. During his visit, Thurston engaged with DLA Distribution leadership and staff, discussing topics including the Warehouse Execution System, Warehouse Management System implementation, and warehouse modernization and utilization. The overall goal of the visit focused on knowledge sharing relating to topics such as supply forecasting, enterprise resource planning modernization and prepositioned stock.

DLA Aviation seeks industry help to overcome contested logistics challenges

Defense Department members, industry partners and Oklahoma government officials gathered here Aug. 5-8 at the Reed Conference Center, near Tinker Air Force Base, for the 18th annual “Tinker and the Primes” conference. Air Force Brig. Gen. Chad Ellsworth, DLA Aviation commander, and Cathy Contreras, DLA Aviation senior acquisition executive, were featured speakers at the annual event, which offered prime and secondary contractors, government agencies, academic institutions and small businesses a chance to discuss the conference’s theme: “Forging Readiness and Accelerating Innovation for Great Power Competition.”
