Know how to find out changes in operating status during winter weather, other emergencies

There are several ways Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia employees can find out about changes in the installation’s operating status during winter weather and other emergencies.

A High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle was tied down with both the existing tiedowns and new synthetic tiedowns to conduct a side by side demonstration during an operational evaluation on Joint Base Charleston, Nov. 28 and 29. The evaluation was a culmination of an Air Force Research Labs, Advanced Power Technology Office, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, initiative to reduce aircraft weight by almost 1,000 pounds for better fuel efficiency.

JB Charleston test new equipment, saves Air Force millions

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the 18th Air Force website — An operational evaluation of new synthetic tiedowns and winch cables for the C-17 Globemaster III took place here Nov. 28 and 29. Tiedowns are ropes, cords, straps or chains that secure items during airlift operations. Winch cables help adjust the tension on tiedowns, securing the load.

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — DLA Troop Support ensures customers ranging from dining facility patrons to school students receive the freshest fruits and vegetables available.

DLA Aviation at Jacksonville, Florida, Navy Commander Daniel Bessman, along with other DLA Aviation employees load boxes of toys and bicycles for the annual Toys for Tots Program Dec. 15, 2016. DLA employees, along with Navy employees from Fleet Readiness Center Southeast’s Avionics Shop, collected and donated six boxes of toys and 10 bicycles, which were given to families in need in the Greater Jacksonville area.

DLA Aviation in JAX teams with Navy employees to support local Toys for Tots

Richmond, Virginia — Employees from Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Jacksonville, Florida, along with Navy employees from Fleet Readiness Center Southeast’s Avionics Shop collected and donated toys in support of the annual Toys for Tots Program.

Time is running out to give to CFC

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — In this question and answer session, Doug Thomas, DLA Energy Strategic Programs and Policy Directorate program manager, discusses the charity he supports through CFC, the charity he supported in the past, and why it’s important to him.

Several members of DLA Troop Support’s Command Support Office contributed to a Continuous Process Improvement project to improve Defense Travel System compliance rates from 78 percent to 93 percent. Travel authorizations streamlined, DTS compliance rates improved

PHILADELPHIA — last minute, overseas mission was put into jeopardy earlier this year due to errors in employees’ Defense Travel System accounts. Scenarios like this caused two Troop Support employees to peak under the hood of DTS to find out why and fix it.
