COVATTA caps Navy birthday celebration at DLA Land and Maritime

The U.S. Navy celebrated its 245th Birthday and the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime joined the festivities with a trimmed down version of its fun-themed cardboard regatta. A celebration staple for the last several years, the COVID-19 health emergency has required health and safety adaptations that have scaled down this year’s version.

September orientation introduces 50 new associates

September 23 was the first day of the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime New Employee Orientation for 50 new employees but this orientation was different than previous months. Participants were able to log in via WebRTC and use their webcams to see presenters and fellow employees instead of logging in to watch the PowerPoint presentations. This adjustment made the two-day orientation more interactive.

Fire Prevention Week focuses on safety during pandemic conditions

Fire Prevention Week is observed nationally during October 4-10. This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, "Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!" works to educate everyone about the simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.

DSCC activities support Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October has been National Domestic Violence Awareness Month since 1981. The observance serves to educate communities, individuals, couples and families about the Family Advocacy Program services and other community resources that can help prevent domestic violence, raise awareness of community responsibility, and inform the community of the many ways to report domestic abuse.

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Legal office sponsored a scenario-based virtual ethics training session Sept. 14. The session featured a panel discussion crafted to help associates empower and position themselves to make the right decision when challenged with an ethical dilemma.

Operations Security is a process that safeguards sensitive information. It enables Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and other Department of Defense organizations to identify and protect classified and unclassified critical information and execute measures to eliminate or reduce our adversaries' ability to use the information obtained. OPSEC challenges us to look at ourselves through the eyes of an adversary and deny the adversary the ability to act.
