OPSEC: Your focused, compliant practice helps keep our service members safe

Operations Security is a process that safeguards sensitive information. It enables Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and other Department of Defense organizations to identify and protect classified and unclassified critical information and execute measures to eliminate or reduce our adversaries' ability to use the information obtained. OPSEC challenges us to look at ourselves through the eyes of an adversary and deny the adversary the ability to act.

The Feds Feed Families campaign is going virtual this year due to COVID-19. The local Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime campaign runs Aug. 24-31 and will focus on helping local community food banks.

Former Land and Maritime acquisition leader to be inducted into DLA Hall of Fame

Former Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Acquisition Executive Milton K. Lewis will be inducted into the 2020 DLA Hall of Fame Sept. 29. Lewis led Land and Maritime’s acquisition force from 2008 until his retirement in 2017. Lewis is one of nine former associates across the agency to be honored for his many contributions to the nation. Lewis joins the ranks of 126 people across DLA’s 26,000-strong workforce ever to be inducted – and only the 16th selected from Land and Maritime.

Ohio’s shelter-in-place order has led many families to spend more time at home. As a result, local waste companies are reporting surges in trash collection resulting from many residents taking the opportunity for an extended spring-cleaning season and tackling various home projects.

DLA Land and Maritime leadership changes hands during change of command ceremony.

Leadership transitioned in Columbus, Ohio as the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Commander, Navy Rear Adm. John T. Palmer turned over command to Navy Rear Adm. Kristen B. Fabry in a July 17, 2020 change of command ceremony. Fabry also assumed command of the Defense Supply Center Columbus as a dual command responsibility. The event was held in a pavilion area on the Defense Supply Center Columbus.
