Army commands talk warfighter logistics during DSCC site visit

Representatives from U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command met with Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime logisticians Oct. 31 to open up dialogue on how best to equip warfighters to meet current and future demands. This is part of a series of collaborative meetings between the military commands and the Central Ohio logistics hub responsible for supplying spare and repair parts for thousands of weapons systems.

DLA Maritime Mechanicsburg wears pink in honor of family, friends affected by breast cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and pink is the color associated with creating awareness for this disease. DLA Maritime Mechanicsburg, located on the Naval Support Activity in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, showed their support recently by gathering for a photo Oct. 16 with everyone wearing pink.

Land and Maritime veteran runs Marine Corps Marathon in honor of fallen

Jon Ferguson trained for four months – covering roughly 400 miles – to prepare himself for a big moment in late October. The Marine Corps veteran and current Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associate completed the Marine Corps Marathon Oct. 27 in Washington, D.C. It was Ferguson’s first time running the race and second marathon ever.

Linda Johnson retires after 36 years

A longtime leader bid farewell to the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Oct. 24. Linda Johnson, deputy director of the Land Customer Operations directorate, retired after 36 years of federal service. In her final role, Johnson helped lead the team responsible for readiness support to nearly 19,000 U.S. Army and Marine Corps customers, with sales orders worth approximately $7.4 billion.

Engineers defend title at annual boat race

To fans of the late 60s comedy Gilligan’s Island, the crew of the SS Minnow were known for their doomed “three-hour tour” that ended with them shipwrecked and marooned on an uncharted island. But for fans of the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Navy Cardboard Regatta, the two-man crew of the re-tooled SS “Winnow” are known as four-time champions of the center’s annual boat race in celebration of the U.S Navy’s 244th birthday.

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s newly appointed Deputy Commander Ken Watson officially reported for duty Oct 15. He replaced Steven Alsup, who retired from the Senior Executive Service corps this past June after more than 33 years of federal service.
