DLA to help rid Army of excess equipment

Army officials are depending on the Defense Logistics Agency’s disposal and distribution experts to help remove more than 1.2 million pieces of excess equipment from unit inventories in the next two to three years.

Children of Headquarters employees get to see Mom, Dad in the 'real world'

Children of McNamara Headquarters Complex employees took a break from school to “shadow” their parents during “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” April 28. HQC Morale, Welfare and Recreation sponsored the event.

Document Services supports sailors’ career advancement

Over the span of nine months, the Document Services team processed 358,686 exams in 9,767 individual print orders for the Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center.

DLA Troop Support employee featured in new video

A new acquisition professionals video focusing on a DLA Troop Support employee was released on the organization’s YouTube and Facebook sites April 27.

Airman 1st Class Michael Schulz, 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle management flight mechanic, changes the oil of a government vehicle March 22, 2016, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Schulz was one of two Airmen tasked with changing the oil of six vehicles which will be testing a new bio-based synthetic oil which could potentially help the Air Force’s initiative to use more sustainable materials and be environmentally conscious.

Sign language interpreter training focuses on Middle Eastern culture

Richmond, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Equal Employment Opportunity Office hosted a Federal Interpreter Training Workshop April 8 in Chester, Virginia.

Urgency drives DLA Puget Sound team in maintaining ballistic-missile submarines

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The design of the Ohio-class submarine allows the vessel to operate 15 or more years between major overhauls. On average, the submarines spend 77 days at sea followed by only 35 days in-port for maintenance, creating urgency for on-shore personnel who must ensure the vessel is ready when called back to action.

DLA employees and teams were recently honored for their achievements in helping the agency achieve its strategic goals.

DLA Director U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch announced the retirement of Rear Adm. John King from DLA Land and Maritime, effective April 21, 2016. King served as the Commander of DLA Land and Maritime since August 2014.
