DoD A&S leader: DLA, industry achieving National Defense Strategy goals

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — The Defense Logistics Agency has an enormous, daily impact on warfighters as it builds lethality and strengthens alliances with NATO partners while also reforming business practices, Ellen Lord, under secretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment, said during DLA Industry Day July 31 at the McNamara Headquarters Complex on Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

DLA's Fifth Estate organization representatives met with leaders to discuss acquisition oversight and support with continuous process improvements throughout their community, which implements procurement systems, policies and regulations.

Demand of textile items could rise, DLA director tells industry officials

DoD program helps DLA share knowledge, talent with industry

Rosslyn, Virginia — The Defense Logistics Agency continues to invest in innovative programs that allow acquisition professionals to engage with and learn from industry partners. Brian McGinley, a supervisor in DLA Troop Support’s Post Award Division for industrial hardware, is assigned to a six-month career-development program with Deloitte LLP in Rosslyn, Virginia.

Former retail leader teaches lessons in supply chain management

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — During an Oct. 30 professional-development session on supply-chain management at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams hosted Chris Sultemeier, former president and CEO of Walmart Transportation and later, executive vice president of logistics for Walmart Stores. Sultemeier relayed stories and advice from his 30-year career spanning military service and the private sector to leaders of DLA headquarters organizations and major subordinate commands.
