Likewise, the Defense Logistics Agency Joint Reserve Force has had to overcome challenges that come with social distancing and preventing the spread of the virus. One of the ways it has done this is by transitioning from in-person drill weekends to virtual battle assemblies. Rather than gathering for large group meetings, the JRF hosted town halls and meetings over video conferencing.

DLA, HHS deliver rapid-result COVID-19 test kits across the nation

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency supplied over 11 million rapid COVID-19 test kits that provide on-site results within 15 minutes to thousands of sites nationwide by Oct. 2. The deliveries are part of a contract awarded Aug. 28 for 150 million tests on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services and are expected to continue through December.

Surplus DOD tanker truck used to haul ethanol for hand sanitizer for Nebraska emergency workers, schools

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — An excess military tanker truck repurposed by the Nebraska Forest Service for firefighting was recently pressed into service as an ethanol hauler for hand sanitizer being used by emergency managers and public schools.

Partner agencies receive $18 million in supplies during pandemic response

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — As autumn approaches, DLA Disposition Services continues its support of pandemic response by supplying the armed forces and first responders with a variety of materials. “We’ve recently exceeded a total of $18 million in excess and surplus supplies and equipment provided to customers for COVID-19 relief efforts,” said DLA Disposition Services Director Mike Cannon.
