Customizable medical kits help modernize USAF deployable assets, provide tailored solutions for warfighters

Air Force health care providers responsible for life-saving operations will soon have access to customizable medical kits provided by the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Medical team as the agency awarded a $5.4 million contract for 27 kits March 7. The “made-to-order” medical kits includes items such as bandages, gauze, pharmaceuticals, and tracheal tubes as well as a variety of support equipment and cases to house it all. The MTO kits will provide warfighters across the globe support of their unique needs and situations.

Collaborating for success: DLA Troop Support hosts Headquarters National Account Managers to strengthen partnership

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support hosted the DLA Headquarters National Account Manager team March 3 in Philadelphia where they were able to collaborate in-person and strengthen a partnership that ensures DLA delivers the best warfighter support possible to its customers. National Account Manager teams for the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force stay in contact with logisticians and planners at the Defense Department-level to help align DLA goals with those of service leaders. DLA customer and warfighter support representatives are also co-located with customers at the tactical level to help solve everyday problems like supply shortages and last-minute requirements.

One of the more challenging tasks for the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation teams supporting the Air Force industrial customers at the retail industrial sites is determining what materials to have on hand, quantities to stock, timelines of the requirement and ensuring demand and supply planning factors within DLA business systems are postured to maintain procurement pipelines for items with consistent demands.
