DoD Moves Troops, Search-Rescue Units, Aircraft, Vehicles to Texas

WASHINGTON — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Northern Command website — The Defense Department is prepositioning troops, search and rescue units, aircraft, vehicles, equipment and supplies to staging areas near the worst of the flooding in southeastern Texas in anticipation of a possible request for assistance, a Pentagon spokesman said here today.

Employees urged to get 'hurricane ready' this week

To help Americans prepare for dangerous flooding, destructive winds and tornadoes generated by hurricanes, the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are sponsoring Hurricane Preparedness Week May 7-13.

DLA, FEMA sign agreement in support of disaster relief

The Defense Logistics Agency renewed its commitment to providing critical lifesaving supplies and services to the Federal Emergency Management Agency in a formal agreement leaders in both agencies signed March 10.

DLA Energy contracted 25 fuel trucks in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Incident Support Base at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia, to support anticipated Hurricane Matthew relief operations.The trucks brought more than 123,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel to MCLB Albany Oct. 6.

Defense Logistics Agency Energy is providing essential fuel support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency in response to ongoing Hurricane Matthew relief operations in the United States and Haiti.
