Pentagon’s logistics agency plays key role in procuring, distributing limited pandemic supplies

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — The Defense Department’s leading logistics agency is playing a key role in the national coronavirus response as it purchases and distributes desperately needed medical supplies for DOD and federal agencies.

DLA Research & Development supporting COVID-19 response with face shields, advanced manufacturing 

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — The Defense Logistics Agency will deliver 11,000 face shields to New York City medical workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 response by coupling a novel acquisition approach and one of DLA’s Research & Development projects using advanced manufacturing technology.

Senthil Arul, who leads the Defense Logistics Information Research Program in R&D, was named one of AAGEN’s Innovative Leaders in Defense at its 2019 Leadership Workshop June 6 in Crystal City, Virginia. The award recognizes civilian and military leaders from throughout DoD who have embraced and promoted innovation during their careers.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — DLA Distribution held a first of its kind collaborative meeting between Distribution, DLA Headquarters Research and Development, and academia partners to discuss ideas and potential opportunities in support of DLA Distribution’s Modernization Program.

Rusty Zortman, members of the 155th Sustainment Services Flight, prepare Unit Group Rations to serve lunch to the 155th Small Air Terminal, who traveled to the Transportation Proficiency Center at Dobbins ARB, Ga., July 11-14, 2014. Services sent three Airmen in upgrade training to learn how to serve a large group away from home station.
