Hard-work pays off: July employees of the month receive recognition for a job well done

Stephen Adams, sustainment specialist in the Planning and Support Division of the Customer Operations Directorate for Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Cherry Point, North Carolina, and Latoya Whitehead, contract specialist in the Supplier Operations Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Directorate for DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia, were both named DLA Aviation Employee of the Month for July.

DLA lab tests 3D scanner to inform agency use, improve coordination with partners

A 3D scanner, delivered to the Defense Logistics Troop Support Product Test Center the week of October 11, is undergoing testing to explore how the technology can improve agency operations. The machine may also help the PTC coordinate with customers, vendors and DLA teammates to better visualize parts and potential defects.

DLA provides food, medicine to incoming Afghans in support of Operation Allies Welcome

The Defense Logistics Agency provided more than $42 million worth of food and nearly 448,000 doses of 15 different vaccines to Afghan nationals in support of Operation Allies Welcome over the past three months, while standing by to provide additional assistance to U.S. Northern Command and other mission partners.

DLA Troop Support earns award for supporting National Guard, Reserve employees

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support was honored with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s “Above and Beyond Award,” presented by ESGR Chair Emeritus retired Army Maj. Gen. Wesley Craig Oct. 7, in Philadelphia, for their outstanding support of National Guard and reserve members employed by the organization.

Industrial Hardware realignment brings strength, resilience of team to DLA partners

Although the Industrial Hardware supply chain was officially disestablished by the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia effective October 1, the talent and energy of the workforce that managed the 937 thousand items remains unchanged. The warfighter support for hardware continues through other DLA offices, and the energy and talent of more than 400 employees is shared throughout the organization.

Defense Logistics Agency team supports White House initiative with up to $2.78B in testing supplies

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Medical employees worked through the Labor Day onward without breaking to expedite six contracts with a combined maximum value of just over $2.78 billion for up to 150 million over-the-counter and 400 million point-of-care COVID-19 test kits and in support of White House initiatives.

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support dedicated its headquarters building in Northeast Philadelphia in honor of local historical figure as a symbol of its workforce during a dedication ceremony Sept. 23, 2021 in Philadelphia. DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Eric P. Shirley presided over the ceremony honoring Whelen, Purveyor of Public Supplies in Philadelphia from 1800-1806 and former proprietor of Nitre Hall in Haverford, relating his description of duties in preparations for the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the modern workforce and the 222 years of logistics excellence rooted in the city.
