DLA HQ Child Development Center reopens as government-run facility

Distribution police officers honor National Police Week with ceremony

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — The Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Police Force hosted a wreath laying ceremony to pay tribute to local, state, and Federal peace officers who have died in the line of duty on May 15. Each year, our nation loses between 140-160 law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

DLA employee celebrates Earth Day teaching elementary students about recycling

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — One DLA Distribution employee went above and beyond to celebrate Earth Day April 21, volunteering her time to teach local second-graders the importance of taking care of the environment.

The Department of Homeland Security recently updated its lists of states that are compliant, noncompliant, or under extensions for making the ID they issue conform to the Real ID Act.

Deadline for ‘Real ID’-compliant driver’s license extended to June for some states

If you have family members whose only ID is issued by one of an expanded list of non-compliant states or territories, they will not be able to use that ID for unescorted access to Department of Defense or other federal facilities after June 6, following an extension of the deadline by the Department of Homeland Security.

Any CAC or DoD ID is good to go, but a state driver’s license or state ID card might not be accepted for access to DoD or other federal facilities, depending on the state of issue.

Will your family’s ID cards still be G2G Jan. 30? Not if issued by certain states

On Jan. 30, 2017, any license or ID card from a state or territory that doesn’t comply with the Real ID Act (and hasn’t been given an extension) won’t be accepted for access to any federal facility. And on Jan. 22, 2018, any license used to board a U.S. flight must be from a jurisdiction that complies with the Act or has an extension from DHS.

DLA Installation Support at Susquehanna F&ES awarded international reaccreditation status

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — DLA Installation Support at Susquehanna, Pa., Fire and Emergency Services has received Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. DLA is one of over 200 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna recently hosted a force protection lecture series which highlighted active shooter response teams, featuring guest speaker Derrick Boucher, FBI supervisory special agent-in-charge of the Philadelphia Division’s Harrisburg field office.
